Hi! I’m Gretchen, The Home Business Whisperer. I help mamapreneurs run your home like a business. It is my mission to create peaceful mamapreneurs by teaching them how to run their households without the constant guilt of feeling like they aren’t doing enough; aren’t doing it right; aren’t doing it well.
But first, some pretty standard facts about me: I have been a nerd my entire education, I love learning, and continue to learn every day. I graduated college in 2012 with my Bachelor’s Degree. I majored in Mathematics and minored in Studio Art. Math and Art? What? Yes, absolutely! Math is everywhere in Art. Math IS Art. So I bring to you the best of both worlds: the logic of a mathematician with the creativity of an artist. I bring order to chaos, I create systems and process that really work, and I have the creativity to be original in my methods.
After college, I was employed at a tutoring company as an independent contractor tutor. After some time, I also became an employee at this company and worked closely with the business owner. I was introduced to networking, payroll/billing, reconciling accounts, website editing, customer service, general business structure, etc. And I was hooked, I became obsessed with business.
While networking for this company, I happened into my next life change: I bought a house and moved out into the “country.” During this move, I gave a talk on organization at my core networking group. Little did I know that that talk was my interview. I was approached soon after to help set up a start-up financial company. It was to be the two partners and myself. In doing this, I assisted with setting up the office and several of the internal organization structures, including the prospect to client workflow, data organization, internal audits, event planning, and honestly – I just did whatever needed doing, all while learning an entirely new industry.
Basically, I have some unique experience in understanding business structure and organization, and I am a great learner – and I want to bring these qualities into the home.
Why the home? I am a mother of two beautiful children, and I am far from familial support. So, it is just my very amazing, very hardworking husband and myself at home with our babies. Any breaks we get, we have to pay for. It is hard and it does suck at times. And, I don’t know why, but no one seems to understand that running a household really is a full-time job – but no one is teaching us how to do it. Just like any profession, it is important to take the time to learn how to actually do it – so you can do it well and with ease. We have a whole bunch of mamapreneurs just barely hanging in there, holding on for dear life, living nap time to cup of coffee to weekly networking meeting. We need to take the control back and run our households. We need to stop letting our households run us.
I believe I am the person to bring peace of mind to all the mamapreneurs out there, because I will teach them how to run their home like a business. My mind loves bringing order to chaos, solving problems, and creating intuitive structures.
I gave you a glimpse into my education and experience, and I will give you a glimpse into my personal life once we work together.
